HDx Expanded Hemodialysis Enabled by THERANOVA
HDx therapy may improve patient-reported outcomes related to quality-of-life aspects of kidney disease, including pruritus, restless legs syndrome criteria (RLS) and symptoms burden.
Expanded Hemodialysis Therapy (HDx) is delivered by THERANOVA, an innovative dialyzer featuring a Medium Cut-Off (MCO) membrane that efficiently removes large-middle molecules, a group of uremic toxins linked to inflammation, cardiovascular disease, and other dialysis related comorbidities – helping to create a world of difference for patients with chronic kidney disease, healthcare professionals and healthcare systems.
HDx therapy enabled by THERANOVA may improve patient reported outcomes related to quality-of-life aspects of kidney disease, including symptom burden, restless legs syndrome criteria and pruritus.
PRURITUS: >42% of HD patients suffer from moderate to severe pruritus.
HDx may improve patient-reported pruritus: One randomized clinical study found HDx to deliver statistically significant improvements in key aspects of patient-reported uremic pruritus compared to conventional HD.3
Restless Legs Syndrome Criteria (RLS) – HDx may prevent discomfort.
A large study in prevalent HD patients found an approximate 55% reduction in the number of patients meeting RLS criteria after 12 months.4
FASTER RECOVERY TIME: 68% of patients report >2 hours to recover from their dialysis session.
HDx Therapy may significantly reduce dialysis recovery time and improve perceived fatigue level.5

Freeing Up Resources: Recent studies have shown promising signs that HDx has the potential to positively impact the burden on healthcare systems.14-16
THERANOVA dialyzers are indicated for treatment of chronic and acute renal failure. Do not use THERANOVA dialyzers in Hemodiafiltration or Hemofiltration.
