A Day in the Life of Our People: Jaideep Patel, Regulatory Affairs Associate

Walk me through a typical day for you here at Baxter.

A typical day for me involves working with a global team of individuals from regulatory, research and development, and product development to discuss and review product proposals and strategies to bring new and innovative products to the Canadian market.

In your own words, what does work / life balance look like for you?

Work life balance for me involves being able to be set aside time for family, friends and activities that I enjoy. At Baxter, I’ve had the opportunity for flexible work schedules that allow me to achieve my personal goals.

Why did you decide to pursue a career at Baxter?

Baxter is a multinational health care company that focuses on treatment of kidney diseases and other chronic and acute medical conditions. What drove me towards pursuing a career at Baxter is its Mission, Vision and Values of Saving and Sustaining lives. It’s an amazing feeling when you know that a product that you’ve directly been involved in is now being used to treat patients.

If you could change one thing about your career, what would that be?

If I could change one thing about my career it would be to ask more questions. As an early career professional, the transition from school to the workplace can be difficult. Fortunately, at Baxter, I’ve had to opportunity to join the Early Careers Professionals (ECP) BRG which helps young professionals like me feel welcome and supported by their peers. It has also allowed me to ask questions to the senior management team about my career aspirations and challenges they had faced when they were in my shoes.

What’s the most fulfilling part about working at Baxter? What makes you stay?

Baxter has a rich history for more than 85 years of saving and sustaining lives and elevating patient care. The most fulfilling part of working at Baxter is knowing that everything we do influences patients’ lives. What makes me stay at Baxter is that we continue to transform and increase access to care for patients around the world. Baxter continues to invest in innovative technologies, products and therapies that accelerate growth and advance patient care.
