Building a Meaningful Career
Tell me about your current role.
I am currently a Senior Financial Analyst supporting our Technical Services, R&D, Cash Flow and Capital Expenses areas. I have been in this role for almost two years where I continue to learn and progress every day.
At what point in your career did you join Baxter?
I joined Baxter later in my career after I moved from Alberta to Ontario. From my research about Baxter, I was impressed by the positive impact Baxter’s products have on people’s lives and I knew I wanted to be part of something like that. In addition. Baxter also provided opportunities aligned to my long-term career goals. Taking all these factors into consideration I decided I wanted to be part of Baxter’s Finance team.
What is the most important part of your job?
The most important part of my job is analyzing and interpreting financial results. On a monthly basis, I prepare analysis of the financial statements. This provides information to management that allows them to make important business decisions. My work directly influences decision-making which requires a broad understanding of both business operations as well accounting.
What makes you stay at Baxter?
There are several things that make me want to stay at Baxter. On the top of my list is the opportunity to work with great people. I consider myself lucky to be working in Baxter’s Finance team. Everyone in the team is truly a team player and makes me feel excited to be here to support the business and our mission to “Save and Sustain Lives”. Another reason is Baxter’s focus on the development of their employees which was a very important factor for me before joining the team. My Manager (Sam Bhatthal) has been a great mentor and I have learned a lot and continue to learn from her
In your own words, what does it mean for you to have a meaningful career?
For me, a meaningful career is one that makes you feel fulfilled and my work at Baxter gives me purpose.
